Two sisters. One inspired idea.
It started on the Sound. Long Island Sound, that is. That’s where we grew up, mostly wearing cozy fleece jackets. To the beach. To school. On a boat. While skiing. Fast forward to a chilly 2015 evening out on the water: We reached for our zip-fleece jackets and wished we could up the ante on that warm-up look.
It was time to reimagine fleece in an elevated-for-everyday way.
Our mom, Bonnie Dudley, helped us design a prototype. We took the idea back to Brooklyn and the Cobble Hill, our flagship style, was born.
These days, Dudley Stephens custom designs a range of style-forward silhouettes that go from shore to city with ease. Still proudly and sustainably made in Brooklyn from recycled yarn.
As founders we bring insights from both fashion and business to the helm of Dudley Stephens. Previously, Lauren Stephens managed celebrity dressing and VIP relations for Calvin Klein and Gucci. Katherine “Kaki” McGrath held extensive roles in sports and entertainment marketing, and in luxury travel. We both live in Fairfield County, Connecticut with our husbands and children. You may spot our mom, who still is an integral part of the design process, modeling #dsgoods on our site and around town from time to time (say hi).
"We decided to embark on a journey with the hope of achieving one goal: To reimagine fleece."
All Dudley Stephens styles are made in our Brooklyn, New York workroom using recycled yarn. Because we like knowing what we wear is good inside and out, and we know you do too.
You know that feeling you get slipping on a favorite tee or sweater? That’s what you get from our vello fleece. Lightweight and low maintenance, soft with just the right stretch. AKA perfection.
When you’re comfortable, it shows. But that doesn’t mean you need to compromise on style. From our fit to our fabric, we custom design our clothing so comfort and chic go hand-in-hand.
We’re kind of pineapple crazy around here.
Really, what’s not to love: great snack, better cocktail mixer, a symbol of warmth. Better yet— there’s more than meets the eye. That sweet, juicy fruit is also full of anti-inflammatory wonders.
In other words: They’re inviting. Accessible, but kind of luxurious. A symbol of comfort. Pretty with a purpose. The Dudley Stephens way.
